matisse red room

This painting by Matisse is called The Red Studio was painted in 1911 and is an oil on canvas. I picked this painting because the color red is very aggressive and it looks like the painting is flat.  The paintings on the wall pop out at the viewer which I find very cool. Red was not a traditional color in that time and painting the whole room red was not the norm for that time period so I like that he did that and used this color to create the illusion of a flat room
