Van Gogh painted this painting called 'at eternity's gate' in 1890. The man in the picture is actually a war veteran. I like this painting because it shows a strong war veteran slumped over looking vulnerable. This picture is almost depressing. The blue outfit, the posture of the old man, and the man covering his face. It's as if he is too ashamed to look up at you.
