Dustheads
This artwork caught my eye instantly. The clashing colors and harsh lines make it look simple yet intense. There is so much going on within the artwork. The art works seems like a child did it, which is surprising since he is a well known artist. The red guy really catches my eye mostly do to the white face it's more intensifying. His artwork also sort of reminds me of Picasso, just the way the faces are draw. But in all i really enjoy his artwork.
Basquiat: God- Law
Basquiat made this painting called 'God-Law' in 1981. This is apart of his street artwork. I like this painting because it shows a scale that's even, one end of the scale represents Religion, and the other end represents Law. The dollar sign in-between the God and Law shows that Basquiat depicts the Religion world and Law world are influenced by money. The law is constantly asking for money. They tax everything and anything to make that dollar. Religion also constantly asks for money. At mass, they go around with a basket where everybody puts their money donations in. I like how raw this artwork is. He didn't try to make it neat, or look pretty. He just drew what was on his mind, without thinking.
Fishing
I really enjoyed this painting from Basquiat. Although, all his paintings are really cool and are some simplistic yet so detailed and deep. A lot of that may have come from his addiction to heroin. He may have perceived this as the world he was living in. They almost remind me in a sense of like a cave painting where simple shapes and lines come together to create a complex image with subtleties of simplicity.
Riding with Death 1988
Jean_Michael Basquiat made this piece of art after Warhole died. A part of Basquiat died with him furthering his depression and eventually leading to his own death. This is one of his last pieces. This artwork is a white skeleton on four and a brown skeleton riding the white one. The brown skeleton seems to be holding on tight and the eyes of the white skeleton are crossed out. This art seemed dark and its sketched out but has depth.
boxer rebellion
Jean Michel created this painting in 1982-1983 using Neo-Expressionism. I picked this painting because
Jean Michel shows all the technology and knowledge that goes into boxing. I didn't really enjoy Jean Michel's painting because they were all very busy and had many differnt ideas in each painting.
Jean-Michel Basquiat
This painting by Jean-Michel Basquiat is very unique to me and I really like it. This painting almost looks childish but is still very detailed. I enjoy the color choices of the background and it makes the painting pop. To me, this painting looks to be a man fishing.
