This particular painting by Frida Kahlo, titled "The Broken Column," caught my eye because its subject matter seems to resonate with the physical and emotional pain she felt from her back injury. The tears streaming down her face illustrate the grief she felt while being bedridden for months and feeling as though she were a burden to her family. The nails piercing her body indicate how she physically suffered during her recovery. Frida's ability to express herself through her artwork is a trait I admire dearly.
