I prefer Matisse's style over Picasso's style of painting. For me Picasso was almost too abstract. Don't get me wrong I love abstract works of art, but Picasso took it to an extreme I think. I really like this painting here done by Matisse. His use of colors and controlled brush strokes make things easily discernible in the painting. I read that Matisse was especially fond of cats and was extremely close with three of his cats, Minouche, Coussi, and his black cat la Puce (the flea) whom he fed them pieces of brioche every morning.
