Frida Kahlo painted Self Portrait with Monkey in 1940. I picked this painting because I thought her story behind the painting was interesting. She chooses yellow for madness, sickness, and fear instead of happiness. she also puts a red ribbon in her hair that wraps around her neck to represent claustrophobia. The money in the painting had his hand also, wrapped around her neck represent that she is being choked. The monkey also represents a close family member.
