I prefer Picasso's work than Matisse's work because Picasso's paintings were so innovative for his time, and can still be appreciated to this day. I really like Picasso's use of cubism in his paintings, as well as his various periods of color where he would focus on one color group on his paintings for periods of time. The painting above, known as "The Old Guitarist", is one of Picasso's earliest paintings, and is from Picasso's Blue Period. This painting stuck out to me because it is very different than his pieces he is well known for, which usually feature cubism and abstract art.
