February 13, 2020

Frida painted this piece of art in 1939 and was titled the Two Fridas. in this painting, there are two Frida that is connected to one another by the heart. As it can be seen these are tow different versions of Frida as one is in a white dress with a cut open heart and a pair of scissors that cut one of the veins connected to the heart bleeding on to her dress, soaking it in blood while the other Frida is dressed in colorful bright and earth colors with a whole heart in perfect health. This contrast between the tow Fridas reveals the painters two different personalities: one that appears to the public to be in calm composure while a complete heart while the other is distressed and in pain with a broken heart being incomplete. The background is a storm gray cloud-filled sky that expresses inner turmoil and pain adding more depth and emotion to the painting.
